Bridge Tavern FC 2 v 4 R&B Repairs

The Bridge went into this game following defeat against Nottingham Law School in the last 16 of the Notts Cup.

Spirits were high as the team congregated in the changing rooms as the team looked to get one over on R&B repairs, the opposition were unknown as it was to be the first meeting between the 2 clubs.

Quiche, feeling rather rough from the night before couldn’t hold his insides in any longer and promptly puked in the bin just before the team was read out.

Former Rangers Gaffer Alex Manqluish decided to play a 3-5-2 formation with Lormor in goal, a back 3 of Mellors, Kirk and Ashley. The midfield consisted of Scott, Danny, Jay, Leigh and Darren with Richard “I’ve got” Gallagher and Manq up front. Bread, Geary, Quiche and the 2 Gavs – Edwards and Short made up the bench.

As the game kicked off The Bridge just couldn’t get going in the first period, before you could say “I feel like Chicken Tonight” the home side seemed to be 4-0 down. A nightmare start. Just before halftime Scott was sacrificed for Gav Edwards as the gaffer tried to bring some more attack minded players into the game. Halftime arrived with the score line still at 4-0. More changes followed as Manq used his 2 remaining subs. Replacing Leigh was Gav Short whilst Quiche came on for Darren Lee.

The Bridge got into the game more in the second half and pulled a goal back through Jay Edwards. Before you could say “Gillette, the best a man can get” it was another goal to The Bridge. This time Gallagher slotted home despite a flag from the cheating R&B Repairs linesman.

4-2 is how the game stayed, a real below par performance from the usual entertaining Bridge Tavern FC. No Bridge Tavern FC management, players or club officials were available for comment after the game.
