£200,000 for Baptiste

Crewe, who are almost certainly interested in signing Baptiste, would appear to have been told that it will cost them around £200,000 to get their man, or risk the deal going to a tribunial.

John-Baptiste's agent, Alex Cowdy, confirmed they are in negotiations with Mansfield.

He told the Nottingham Evening Post: "Crewe are talking to Mansfield about Alex and that's not a surprise because he has played over 150 games and is still only 21.

"But there is a substantial amount of interest from Championship and League One clubs.

"He's an ambitious lad and if the opportunity came to play at a higher level he'd relish it.

"It would be a wrench to leave Mansfield, but if he does move he wants to be at a club with a track record of developing young players."
