Bacon on not coming back

Last updated : 10 April 2006 By Editor
Why did you reject a return to Mansfield in favour of a move to Lincoln?

DB: If I'm honest the money they offered me at Mansfield was poor. I was on more money at Hucknall playing part-time and I wasn't going to accept a move to a club who were offering me less for going full-time. I was honest with Carlton Palmer at the time and then the Gaffer here rang me and I came down with my Dad. He made me a suitable offer and I took it. The rest is history.

Q: How did you break your leg?

DB: The first time I was in Mansfield's youth team. I was playing against Shrewsbury and a lad two-footed me. He came in over the ball and I broke my tibia and fibula. This time I was on loan at Burton against Aldershot and I just got tangled up with a lad and felt something go. I tried to play on but I just wasn't happening and I had to come off.
