Coke interest a good sign for Stags

Peter Shirtliff believes speculation surrounding midfielder Giles Coke is testament to the football education he has received at Field Mill.

Signed by former Stags boss Carlton Palmer from non-league Kingstonian, Coke has been linked with a possible switch to Reading after rejecting the offer of a new two-year contract with Town.

"The upside to this situation is that it's a good reflection on Mansfield Town," said Shirtliff.

"Giles was a good signing made by Carlton and he has done well in his time here.

"I think we've been good for his game and he has been good for the club so if the big clubs are interested in him, then we must've been doing something right here."
