"I have seen the video and you cannot see from that but it seems the lad has had his arm across Barry and maybe there was an elbow and he has reacted with a kick," boss Billy Dearden is quoted as saying in Tuesday's Nottingham Evening Post.
"But he shouldn't retaliate and violent conduct means he is out for three games, which is a big blow. Barry will be disciplined, there is no two ways about it.
"He was disappointed and apologised but it is too late after the horse has already bolted."
