Dawson came through a behind closed doors training match at Leicester City on Tuesday, with the Stags losing 5-0. Stags boss Billy Dearden told the Nottingham Evening Post about Dawson's condition "Considering he has not played for a couple of months, he came through his 65 or 70 minutes well," he said.

"He has done enough to be in contention for Saturday and could be in my final 16."

Dearden was happy with his side's showing, even though they were well beaten in the end "For the first half we more than matched them and went in at half-time at 0-0, even though they played a strong side with nine of them having had Championship experience.

"We made a couple of defensive mistakes in the second half and were punished. We also change things round and tried things towards the end, which helped them to some late goals."
