Caretaker boss Peter Shirtliff suspects Mansfield chairman Keith Haslam is close to announcing the club's new manager.
Shirtliff was promoted from assistant to temporary manager after Carlton Palmer quit.
And Shirtliff, who presided over the 4-0 demolition of Shrewsbury last time out, said: "I think that in the not too distant future the chairman will be announcing what he wants to do about filling the manager's position.
"I've been in the job a few weeks and I'm working hard to try and improve the team and the squad, as well as looking at different players before I bring them in.
"Things will not change overnight, it takes time, so we have to stick together as a group and hopefully things will turn but results are important.
"I am enjoying what I am doing and am still interested in the position."

Media Reports over the weekend have pointed to Coventry City assistant manager Alan Cork as a possible manager, with Shirtliff working alongside the ex-Wimbledon player.
Paul Hart and John Hollins are also amongst the favourites for the position.
