An ankle injury picked up in the 0-0 draw at Notts County contiues to frustrate D'Laryea, and now the youngster faces a race to prove his fitness for the opening weekend of the season in August.

Although it means he will miss the start of pre-season training, on 5th July, D'Laryea is still confident he will make the starting eleven for the trip to Brentford, when the real action begins "It is taking a little longer than expected and I'm not going to be ready for the start of the pre-season, as was the aim," the midfielder told the Nottingham Evening Post on Wedensday.

"But as long as I am able to play some part in pre-season, and then be ready for the new campaign, I won't mind too much."

"I have been asking the physio when I can start running again and he told me to wait until I had returned from my holiday.

"I have been to see him since getting back and he has given me the nod to start some jogging, so that's a relief."

"Every day I have been doing 20 minutes on the bike and then on the cross-trainer, which helps to loosen up the ankle.

"I have also had some muscle wastage on my calf, so I have been doing my best to strengthen it.

"It's going to be hard work because I am going to be a couple of weeks training behind the rest of the lads, having already been out for a while as well."
