"Martin has been there and done it and is a leader, which is really going to help us in the coming season," Assistant Manager Paul Holland told the Nottingham Evening Post on Tuesday.
"He is going to help with our organisation as a team and he will be someone who the younger players can look up to.
"With a lot of young players at the club, he is going to have an important role to play and I'm sure it's one he'll do very well."
The Stags are still waiting to hear if Ben Futcher will join the squad for next season, with the former Peterborough defender currently on holiday and thinking over an offer made to him just prior to him flying out of the country.
