He is due to take part in a training match this week so boss Peter Shirtliff can access his progress.
On the subject of long term injury Chris Beardsley, Shirtliff told the official Mansfield Town website "I don't think Chris will play any part for the remainder of this season but hopefully the news from the surgeon he is visiting will be promising and he can return to training in readiness for the pre-season schedule."
