BACK IN BUSINESS
Fired-up striker Simon Yeo is determined to make an immediate impact on his Lincoln City return against Mansfield Town today (3pm).
The fans' favourite has received international clearance to enable him to play in the local derby, as City look to start 2006 with a bang.
The Imps go into the clash on the back of Saturday's 2-2 draw with 10-man Darlington at Sincil Bank, where they squandered a two-goal lead.
Yeo (right), who re-signed from New Zealand Knights 11 days ago, is determined to make up for that result by firing City to victory today.
"I feel sharp and I'm raring to get started," said the former soldier.
"I have had almost two weeks' training with the lads and I can't wait to pull the shirt on again.
"It's been a long time coming so, hopefully, I can make a good start.
"The lads are determined to get a good result today, because we didn't get the win we deserved on Saturday.
"OK, we were 2-0 up, but I knew the match would change once their lad was sent off.
"They raised their game in the second half and, although we lost a 2-0 lead, that is how it goes sometimes.
"But we can make amends for it by winning at Mansfield and all the lads will be gunning for a victory."
Around 1,000 City fans are expected to make the short journey to Field Mill to spur Keith Alexander's side to a priceless three points.
Yeo said he was looking forward to rekindling his love affair with City fans.
"It will be my first game since I re-signed and for it to be a derby will be extra special," said the 32-year-old.
"There will be a lot of our fans there and I'm looking forward to running out and playing for them again.
"The atmosphere will be cranked up and it's going to be a great occasion.
"I can't wait for the game to get started."
Yeo, who initially signed for the club from non-league Hyde in May 2002 and quit for the Knights last June, has happy memories of the last time he played at Field Mill.
He scored the first goal in last season's 2-2 draw and admits he would love to get on the scoresheet again.
"Just getting out there and playing would be good enough for me, but to score would be a magnificent start to my second spell.
"But I will gladly sacrifice that as long as we win."
City, sitting 15th in the table, have doubts over striker Gary Birch, who has a dead leg. Defender Lee Beevers (ankle) and captain Paul Morgan (broken foot) are both ruled out.
