Peter Shirtliff: "That was a great three points for us and I was pleased with the resilience we showed,"
"I am pleased with the way things are going.
"Rushden just started playing for corners and brought more big players on. They started pumping balls into the box hoping to get a goal.
"It is a horrible way to play but you just have to deal with it and I am pleased with the way we competed.
"When we were 2-0 up I though Rushden would push more men forward and we'd have more chances on the counter-attack.
"But we didn't use the ball well or show enough composure. That is down to our inexperience. They just got caught up in the fracas instead and it wasn't the prettiest of games."
Peter was speaking to the Mansfield CHAD.
Meanwhile speaking to the official Rushden & Diamonds website, Barry Hunter said "There's been a lot said in the dressing room to be honest. We're disappointed and we've got to get our act together. We're all going to have a terrible weekend and a horrible few days before we start working towards the Chester game. We've got to all stand up and be counted."
"Players expect it if they don't perform and they can expect to have the finger pointed at them but we do that inside the dressing room. We're going to have another meeting on Monday. We'll say more then after we've looked at the video and people have had time to cool down. There's a lot of emotion in there (dressing room) at the minute but whatever happens we will stick together and we'll fight. The lads know that if they don't perform or play well than they won't be in the team. That's how its got to be because we're fighting relegation - no question"
"They were poor goals to concede. When you concede 2 goals at home they're never good so we have to be really strong and reliable, indeed boring sometimes, and just stick to our jobs at the back. Just deal with what you've got to deal with and don't worry about what anybody else is doing."
