Rushden striker Paris Cowan-Hall could return after missing the last three games with an ankle ligament injury.
Captain Aaron O'Connor (thigh) and defender Curtis Osano (calf) are unlikely to feature.
Rushden & Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh tells BBC Radio Northampton: "It's been a difficult period but I feel that if we keep playing the way we are, it's only a matter of time before we get back to winning ways.
"It's easy to feel sorry for ourselves, but we're not doing that.
"Curtis Osano and Aaron O'Connor are in with a chance. Paris Cowan-Hall is taking a bit longer than hoped. Sam Smith is another week or two away. Eddie Ashodi has got a knee problem so he may be a doubt. But it's an opportunity for others to show what they're about."
