Speaking on Mansfield 103.2 after the game, Palmer seems to hint at his near future as Stags boss. There is no doubt the Stags were very poor tonight at Chester, and it seems with just one league win under his belt this season, Carlton is starting to feel the pressure:
"We were poor, end of story they deserved to win. We've been unlucky with Bearsdley's injury, but that can't excuse the performance. Tonight we were second all over the park and i've got no excuses for that, we deserved to get beat. We spent two days defending restarts, but what can i say. We've worked on things, i'm professional in what i do, but what can i do if players don't take things on board. To be fair to them, apart from the goal, i don't think there was a lot in the game in the 1st half. It is disapointing, because i think were better than that. To be honest with you, and i've told the players, i'm going to go away and think what i'm going to do because that was an embarresment. I've brought in a lot of young players, and i expect more. If that's the best i can expect from an 11 i put out, then we have a problem somewhere."The most solid we've looked is when i've played and i'm 39".
