Speaking to the official Mansfield Town Website today, Shirtliff said "With the rearranged games with Shrewsbury and Chester coming up this month we have another busy period but we are looking at it as a good opportunity to put some points on the table and the boys are in good spirits taking some confidence out of the Newcastle game and over the Christmas period. If we can do that in the next few fixtures we can start to build on our results but we will have to wait and see what develops."
Shirtliff has also been eyeing up players to bolster the squad "I have had talks this morning with a player and things are close to been settled and hopefully we will be able to do a deal and I have a couple of other things on the go. I would like to tie Jon D'Laryea up until the end of the season so I will be speaking to Stuart (Pearce) about it, also I have identified a couple of other players that I wanted to see this afternoon but the game was called off."
