"A tentative approach has been made to the club and we will be meeting with the prospective purchaser," Derry told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"That meeting is likely to take place next week.
"It is a local source, so it hasn't come as a direct result of advertising nationally, but it may be because we have made it clear the club is for sale that this potential purchaser has come forward.
"It has always been the hope that it would be someone local, so that aspect is pleasing.
A report emerged earlier this week that suggested the club was valued by Haslam at £1.5m, not including the ground, however Derry was keen to point out that this wasn't the figure.
