The Mansfield Town chairman Keith Haslam has apologised to supporters of the League Two side for taking personal loans from the club and suggested he may resign his post in the near future and step down.
In response to David Conn's article published in the Guardian on Wednesday, Haslam said he regretted receiving the interest-free personal loans, believed to be upwards of £500,000, on top of his £66,444 salary.
This constitutes a breach of company law. "I'm not denying that it was wrong to do that," Haslam told Radio Mansfield 103.2, "but I was not in a position immediately to repay that. The money will be repaid in full in the very near future."
