In the first pre-season match of the new campaign, Rotherham United were beaten 1-0 by Mansfield Town at the Hooton Lodge training ground this morning.

The goal game midway through the second of the three 30 minutes periods the teams played and it followed a defensive mistake.

Apart from Pablo Mills who was attending a funeral, all the Millers squad took part in the game while manager Alan Knill wasn't too concerned about the result as he stated that at this stage of the season it's all about striving for maximum match fitness.

The Millers play their first public friendly of the pre-season when they visit Grantham Town on Saturday (kick off 7pm).
