Speaking to the media after the game, Shirtliff said "On the positive side, we got a point and I was delighted with that. But in truth it could quite easily have been three.
"The first half was poor from both sides. There was a lot of kick and rush and a lot of scrappy play. But in the second half I think we got a modicum of control.
"As the game wore on I felt our fitness levels started to tell. I just wish we could play with more of this style on a regular basis.
"But if we keep giving goals away like the one we did here, we won't be going anywhere. It was the price we paid for not clearing our lines quickly enough."
