After thrashing Hereford last time out, Beardsley is hoping the result will kick start the Stags season, he told the Nottingham Evening Post "We need to take more responsibility for what we are doing. At the moment there is too much feeling sorry for ourselves when we draw and lose.
"We have to be a little bit more professional and not so niave. We have to make sure we are a hard team to play against and close games out when we are in front."
On his own return to the side, which saw him make an appearance as substitute at the wekeend, he said "I got two goals against Chesterfield in a friendly match last week and scoring always gives your confidence a boost.
"I was also happy with the way that I linked up play in the second half and I'm now fit, raring to go and wanting to get out on the pitch. But you can only do so much in training and what matters is what you do out there on a Saturday afternoon.
"With me having been out for such a long time I feel I would be fresh and offer something different but, of course, it's down to the gaffer.
"At times this season we have been very close to being a very good side but we have made too many individual errors and missed some good chances. That has put the pressure on, particularly in away games."
