The Bridge will be playing a behind closed doors friendly against a newly formed side in the form of the Pheasant. As it is behind closed doors, supporters are not welcome, and indeed extra police have been drafted in to keep riff raff away, Mansfield Police Commisioner Inspector Plod was not quoted as saying "We have declared Marshall Law in Forest Town for the day, therefore anyone entering Forest Town without a pair of football boots will be shot, although i'm not sure what a west indian cricket player has to do with shooting folk"
For those historians that read this site, here is a bit of a background on Forest Town..........
Forest Town
Situated towards the east of the district and bordering Newark and Sherwood, Forest Town is another example of a purpose built village developed for housing workers of the Mansfield (Crown Farm) Colliery in 1904. Prior to this, the area was used for agriculture, moorland and woodland.
Forest Town has a pretty row of shops along with recreational facilities and is a popular residential location for families. St Albans Church, prominent on the main crossroad, is known for containing Commonwealth War Graves from the First World War.
Meanwhile, the transfer deadline passed without any players coming or going into the Bridge Squad, although one offer was received for one of the strikers from Wigan chairman Dave Whealan, who was not quoted as saying "I've been very impressed with his kicking and am thinking about puting in an offer", however the move collapsed when we discoved that Dave was looking for a try conversion kicker for his Rugby League team.
