Mansfield 1-1 Barnet- Match Report

Mansfield's faint hopes of making the Sky Bet League Two play-offs were ended when they were held 1-1 at home by Barnet.

Although Mansfield started brightly, it was Barnet who snatched a sixth-minute lead when John Akinde chased a long ball over the top from Michael Gash and, with Scott Shearer leaving his line too late, he was able to nod over the advancing goalkeeper into the empty net.

But Mansfield were level on the half-hour as Mani Dieseruvwe smashed home a rising finish from 12 yards from Matty Blair's pull-back from the left by-line.The Stags should have gone in ahead but Matt Green flicked a header over from four yards after Jack Thomas had nodded a Blair cross back into the centre, then Adam Chapman powered a header across goal from a Lee Collins cross.

After the break Jamie Stephens had to turn away good free-kicks from Mal Benning and Chapman while Green sent a headed chance wide from six yards and then directed a lob into the side-netting.

Barnet's best moment saw a burst from substitute Luke Gambin end with Shearer forced to save with his legs from 15 yards, though Bondz N'gala should have done better with a header which he sent wide from five yards from a 74th-minute corner. Both sides had late chances but couldn't find a winner
