Stockport new boy Jermaine Easter scored a brace as his side fought back from two goals down to earn an opening day 2-2 draw with Mansfield Town at Edgeley Park.
Both sides paraded a clutch of new signings on a bright Edgeley Park afternoon, but it was Mansfield who created the best early opportunities.
Matt Tipton curled a shot just past the angle of post and crossbar, but Tes Bramble responded for the home side with a glancing header which just missed the target.
Mansfield player/boss Carlton Palmer - who was returning to Stockport for the first time since being sacked as their manager in 2003 - had plenty to celebrate midway through the first half though.
On 23 minutes Steve Dawson fired home a low shot after indecision in the home defence, then nine minutes later Adam Birchall made it 2-0 for the Stags when his shot beat goalkeeper James Spencer at the near post.
However, Stockport were not to be denied as new signing Easter hooked home from 12 yards on 48 minutes and rammed home a close-range header on 67 minutes to earn his side a point.
